I bet ½ the reason you’re still reading this article is because you saw the image and it drove your curiosity.
That’s the power of graphics and design.
One image can represent your entire company and brand, and that same image can be the determining factor if a person stays to learn more or leaves your site entirely.
I don’t think anyone doubts the power of graphics and design. But here’s the problem: those are two things that plague most marketers when they first get started online.
They even plague veteran marketers who’ve been online for years… in fact, those two things consistently plague ME!
Why? Because graphics and design requires a unique skill set and artistic vision that many people don’t have.
Or even if they do have they eye for it, they don’t have the ability to translate their vision to a computer.
Look – we work hard on the elements of our business. From the products or services we offer, to the emails we write, even filming the perfect videos… but when it comes to design, it’s one of the few things we often need someone to help us with.
So, today, I’m going to talk about creating graphics that will IMPRESS your visitors and followers. AND how you can create them on the fly.
The Perfect Image
First, let’s talk about a “perfect” image.
Let’s take the image on the header of this post for example:
Right off the bat, it does a few things:
- Grabs your attention with vibrant colors.
- Piques your curiosity with the text “It’s all about Images!”
- Represents us as a company with clean aesthetics and clear vision.
- Displays relevance to the topic.
Now chances are, these items may not “pop” out at you, but it’s important that you recognize that they are important characteristics of a great image, especially in marketing.
Now, jumping over to social media – where images are used quite heavily – let’s start off with one the fastest growing platforms: Instagram.
The entire focus is based on images and videos. Users scroll on their phones or computers to look at their “feed.”
And when an image grabs their attention, they stop to check THAT one image out.
Images are quickly becoming an essential when it comes to social media, no matter which platform you’re in…Instagram, Facebook, Pintrest, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+, or even YouTube – images are the first thing that GRAB everyone’s attention.
Now let’s take it one step further:
Advertising + Images
My favorite advertising platform is Facebook.
Let’s look at two ads:
These two ads are VERY different.
Ad 1 shows professionalism. It gives you a bright red line on the bottom that brands the company, and shares EXACTLY why you need to click on the ad.
Ad 2 is vague. It shows some guy jetting away with papers flying. You have no idea what it is nor does it brand or represent the company at any level.
Question for you is, as you see these two ads, which one would you be more likely to click?
The answer is Ad 1.
Ad 1 is clear, explains what the product is, what it does, and why you need it. Plus, branding gives consumer confidence, which will lead to more sales and clicks.
So what’s the entire point of this article?
It started off for me 24+ months ago…
