“Enough Celebrating – Let’s Get to Work!!” – That was my subject line in my email today… because it’s what I said to myself when I woke up and headed to my office this morning.
The thing is – no matter how many resolutions or goals you set up for yourself this year, you’ll never see a change if YOU don’t take action for yourself.
Here’s my list of FIVE pieces of advice from me to help you get to your goals this year:
1. Accountability
Write your goals down.
It doesn’t matter where – on a piece of a paper on your wall, on your wall paper of your computer, on the internet, or on the blog.
Even better, you can tell your mentor or your friends and family your goals.
Putting it in front your face or out in the world as much as possible, it will drive you to that success.
2. Think goals, not money
This is something I talk a lot about to my students and mentees.
Don’t sit and focus on the MONEY, but think about the success and the goals.
The MONEY will come with the success of reaching your goals.
3. Mindset and Attitude
I don’t care if you are the smartest person in the world, if you have a negative mindset and poor attitude about whatever it is you are working on, you’re going to battling YOURSELF thru the entire project.
You gotta have a clear head, a clear mindset along with a power attitude to make sure that you accomplish your goals.
4. Plan your year now
Pursuing a goal requires planning.
You can’t set goals without a plan unless you realistically assess your obstacles and the resources involved to reach them.
Make a plan now and follow it.
I suggest you set up micro-goals, once that are achievable, think steps.
It’s easier to reach the top of a building walking up steps then it is to jump or climb the wall.
5. Get ready for failure
Goals aren’t meant to be achieved easily.
So you will fail.
But it’s what you learn from that failure and how you handle it that drives you success.
Learn how to brush off your knees, get up, stand up, and get back on track.
So that’s it, with that being said… I want to wish you a Happy New Year!
I hope you had a great celebration with your friends and family.
Now, GET TO WORK!
The year has started without you!
